For a dear friend

I went to a baby shower on the weekend and it was awesome, because I got to see a dear friend who is having her first baby, I also was lucky to see another friend from school who is having her first baby and another work mate form Melbourne, who has two adorable kids. All three of these ladies I have not seen for a really long time.

So I made cupcakes, the request was butterflies. The first batch of butterflies didn't turn out as I wanted them to, so I quickly made a new batch. Also and a baby bear.

Purple butterflies.

Cupcakes were chocolate velvet and a raspberry butter cream.

Birthdays

Okay it turned from a 60th to a 60th, 50th and also one 16th. I do love a good cupcake making session. So here is part of the goodies. I am only half way thru making the cake.

Tappit letters, these are so good. Even if they are sometimes hard to get out and break when dry and you are about to stick them on. I always make extra and sometimes not enough. So make sure you keep the same coloured fondant just in case.

I piped some royal icing dots, and these will be the cupcake toppers. I have a large one for the top of the cake it is still in the making.

All the little soldiers.

I just love this yellow, it is bright and cheerful.

I haven't even shown you my new machine in the kitchen. It is by breville and it is amazing, sometimes too amazing.

La Cornue, I Love You

We had a new cooker delivered this week, La Cornue it is the most amazing cooker I have seen. It is solid and made well. A little sneak peak it hasn't been fully built.

Because we had guests at work unpacking I got to make more cupcakes. Orange cake with Lemon butter cream. The spoon was a request.

Order's Up

Chocolate cupcakes and yellow icing was called for with Smarties, pebbles and whatever else you call them where you live. (they are hard covered chocolate)

So I have done a photo story while making them.

I missed the bowl and thought it would make a good photo.

Cooling down, this recipe gives little peaks I need to practice how much a fill them.

I had them all lined up as I piped them, little yellow soldiers.

The yellow was quite bright which didn't quite show in this picture.

That's more like it.

The order requested Pebbles. It gave them a fun side.

Ready for travel.

Sweet Cupcake Wishes.

It is here! Not the end of the world but my camera, I knew which one to get so the choice was easy the 4 hour wait for the battery charge was put off by, you guessed it! Cupcake making because they are good still subjects to shoot, as well as the cat.

Butter cake with a raspberry butter cream. I took these down to the ladies at the local hospice shop for afternoon tea.

I had to adjust the size of photos as my new camera has mega pixels to work with and my work computer doesn't like it. Anyway happy days keep watching as I am going to put up photos of the work I have been doing over the last 2 weeks.

Blast from the past.

Hi, well I thought I can't take photos of anything I am doing at the moment but I have heaps from the past before I started my little blog. So here it goes....

This is the first cake I ever made with fondant.

I wanted to put real roses on top but couldn't find the same colour so second choice - cupcakes.

I made these matching cupcakes too, they were fun to do, as I really like working with royal icing and piping.

Oh and these were my every first fondant covered cupcakes too.  I am starting a cake course soon so I really hope to learning a heap of cool things.

Happy making cupcakes.

Sorry everyone, I thought I posted this two days ago.

I have been baking cupcakes today (two days ago), I also knitted another Koolhaas hat for my cousin and I have started a stole. It is boring black but need a colour that went with my work clothes. Oh and the biggest news Dollie has shoes.

But on to Cupcakes.

These are Chocolate velvet fudge cupcakes, With a fondant shape which I added royal icing and a chocolate butter icing.

I did try and write farewell on them, but I didn't like the look.

I was really happy how they turned out.

Now for a little bad news, I dropped my camera on a concrete floor and now it doesn't worked. I had organised my boss to get my new camera from the states in June so I was gutted that I dropped my old point and shoot I took it everywhere with me.  I now have to wait until sometime in June before I can take photos for you all. (or I may go to my mum's and get hers)

Easter Monday Cupcakes.

Now that I am feeling better, what better way to celebrate then baking cupcakes for the people that have to work today.

Banana cupcakes with chocolate butter cream and a little grated chocolate on top.

A little before snap shot.

Don't you just love rainy day light. It is the best light to photograph. I looked at the new camera again two days ago. I only a few more dollars to save and then I will have pure happiness.

Practice makes perfect.

Here is something I tired this week, I saw a picture and thought it would be a cool gift for my sister in law, it is her birthday this weekend and they are going away.

I piped Royal Icing butterflies and dragonflies on top of fondant covered cupcakes.

I made a piping bag out of paper, as I was at work and forgot my tips etc.... so the lines on each cupcake were different, but practice does make prefect.

First Job.

It was my first job and it was well worth all the hard work. Even if the pay was in love at the end.

My friend Kristy lent me her tower from her wedding and her mum lent me the beautiful vintage wine glasses.

The purple cupcakes were a hit with the kids so if you ever want to get kids to eat stuff purple may be the answer.

I didn't get to go to the party, but my mum said that it was a big talking point. I was really pleased with the outcome so I knew my aunty would love it.

I am also sure that I don't want to do another 50 plus cupcakes out of my kitchen again. I only have a small oven so in the end it was hours of work.

But in saying that, if someone I loved really needed 50 cupcakes I am sure I wouldn't say no.

Busy Two Days.

Baking and more Baking, When does the sew come into it.  Well it is coming, I am going to sew a doll for my niece's fourth birthday that is if I can stop baking and knitting.

Yum my favourite mud cake recipe it is quite runny so it is best poured.

Half of the cupcakes needed.

I did a couple of trial ones for my testers.

The roses swirl is a little harder with full buttercream, I possibly should have made the icing a little softer.

And a little birthday gift from my wonderful sister in law, I love these and I have seen these but I had measuring cups so never brought them. Yeah for presents, you can never have too many measuring cups.

Flowers on Flowers

Two days ago I had an Email to check out Heather Bailey's new range which is awesome by the way. They had a photo of a cupcake and I just needed to try it.  I had emailed to get source of the person that did it, but no reply as of yet, and because I can't wait I thought why not just try it.

I first tired an 18 Wilton tip, it is cute but too small, I then used a bigger one, I don't remember which one but it was better, then bring on the 1M Wilton tip and you have something.

First attempt with 18 Tip.

Wilton 1M tip.

The stand my friend lent me, but I just used my glasses from the cupboard

I was nervous about my first job, but now I can't wait to get started.
