Finale cake class

Okay so I completed my first stage of covering a cake with butter cream and the final stage of covering in fondant.  I have done two cakes on my own but wanted little tricks of the trade etc.. So without further waiting I bring to you the fondant butter cream flower cake.

I was meant to do drop flowers, my icing wasn't soft enough so they turned out ruffled.

A little crack on the side.

By the time it came to decorating I actually forgot which tip to use for different flowers so stuck to the basics.

Excuse the horrible green lid, not much forward planning with that.

I am signing up for the stage two class next month.

Vanilla Butter cake with a vanilla butter cream icing and filling. I was told to tasted really good as I didn't eat one single slice.

Butter Cream

I have a fixation on cupcake icing, I don't eat alot of it and I sure like making it. I would much rather eat the  cupcake without icing or a small amount. So because I had left over icing I made some for a friend's afternoon tea.

Here they are......

I made a chocolate cupcake and a raspberry icing.

I found an old macchiato cup that a friend brought me years ago, I have always loved them.

Perfect Cuppa Cake.

Icing Class

I have been attending a basic decorating course, I have found most of the classes boring apart from this week as I got to use my creativeness instead of following an old fashioned cake book. (so to speak) They said the course has been updated but I don't think it has in my eyes.  Anyway we got to do cupcakes yesterday my favourite thing to decorate.  Here is what I come up with.

We learned how to do leaves, If I only got one (leaf tip) earlier I would have realised how easy it is, you most try it if you haven't, so much fun.

I also sprinkled them with glitter dust.

And I used wilton colours to get them bright and vibrant.  I may have to add them to the butterflies for some effect. When I perfect them I will post it.
