Roses

It is awesome, I love how people make roses and always wanted to try it. Lucky it was part of my course.

My two very first roses, now they are to show that the ones I practice and show next time will be much better. So these will be called the much much before roses.

These are the very much much more before Ribbon Roses, it seemed simple but getting the start worked out is much harder for me then it looked. Practice does make perfect.

Custom order

After the Dora cake, I was asked if I could make a custom cake. Never to say no to a friend, custom cake it is. I always thought I wouldn't do a custom cake as it is pressure to bring across that person's vision. I also feel that I could have done a better cake, as I didn't like the butter cream light yellow colour.

So here is the Flame cake.

The story behind it is that Terry (birthday boy) caught the rug on fire (the short story).

I actually got the letters to stand up on their own.

I marbled the fondant to create the flames to look like fire.

For Bond

I love to bake for others, After Just having recovered from the Dora Cake it was another tiny humans Birthday. I didn't have time for a cake but I always have time for cupcakes.

Bond loves Chocolate Ganache covered cupcakes. I made him mini ones last time it was a few years ago, so this year he got bigger ones.

I did two different toppings, and since I had blossoms left over they fitted well.

I laughed at myself yesterday, as when I finished icing them and turned and skipped, Oh I have it bad.

Dora The Explorer

Swiper No Swiping, LOL that is all I can think of from the Dora App I download for my niece. Anyhow this is the cake I made for her, it turned out awesome. I can't wait to give it to her today.

This is the first star cake I have done, I wasn't really into the star cakes but this has definitely changed my mind.

Blossoms.

She is already for delivery.

For Dora Cake

It is getting close, the Dora cake will come to life this week. I have started the decorations with fondant that will go around the base of the cake. Little blossoms as that is all I have taught myself how to make and they don't take long.  I still haven't decided if I am going to do the star butter cream or fondant. I will be using the wilton Dora cake tin and as I am hiring it, I can't practice.

The birthday girl's name. I brought a letter tappit, I love it, how awesome are the letters. I couldn't decided on bigger letters or these and I am glad I choose these ones.

Blossoms, I made purple, yellow and pink.

I also saw on a UK website Pretty Witty cakes this awesome bra and pant set on a cupcake and almost brought it as I hadn't seen it here, I have no use for it yet but just loved it.  So I went to a Decorating demo on the weekend and right on top of a box was the silicone mould for the bra and pants. So excited.

Don't you just love it.

Scarf with many stitches

Oh I had this sitting in my drafts it is my scarf, I finally finished. just to block it.

Super Happy on Books.

I love books, there is something wonderful flicking thru the pages. This morning I got to go and look thru books upon books on Food, craft and of course cakes. Where to stop was the trouble. So this is what I brought.

I have made a few of the patterns in this book but I burrowed it from the library so it is great to now own it.

This book has many great ideas it is a great find.

This is my favourite, it is a mix of her books and it has some of my favourite cakes and mini cakes in it.

This has to be my favourite cake from the book.

Blossoms for love.

Blossoms how cute are they, I got to try out my new blossom and leaf cutters Yesterday. I also have some foam to work with them, I just don't have a ball tool don't laugh but I used the end of a hand mix it is a perfect round.

It has a few rough edges.

As I mention earlier today, I didn't being my cutters to work and I had trouble finding one at work to fit.

I packed them in a little white box with a window for my work mates in Hastings.

Slacker

First off, I just want to say that my heart goes out to Christchurch it is just devastating.

Okay I have been slack with posting but I have been creating.  This is a short one as I have to go to work but I do promise to bring more to you soon.

This is my first blossom flower I have tired to make and I was at work and didn't have right sized cutter to cover the tops. I was practicing so it doesn't bother me too much.

La Cornue, I Love You

We had a new cooker delivered this week, La Cornue it is the most amazing cooker I have seen. It is solid and made well. A little sneak peak it hasn't been fully built.

Because we had guests at work unpacking I got to make more cupcakes. Orange cake with Lemon butter cream. The spoon was a request.

Dollie's clothes

She is a little happy to have bottoms, it was a great relief to finally make clothes for Dollie.

Little cloth Nappies, I made them with terry toweling inside and a cotton print outside. (of course there was a cupcake cotton in my stash)

The sides are un-even which cracks me up no measurements here.

Candy stripes. Look at that little belly.

I had a little scrap of material left from another project and it was perfect for this little skirt. Which I added the lace at the bottom from a dear friend.

I also have added little hand stitched flowers to the shoes, she is still topless but not for long.

Order's Up

Chocolate cupcakes and yellow icing was called for with Smarties, pebbles and whatever else you call them where you live. (they are hard covered chocolate)

So I have done a photo story while making them.

I missed the bowl and thought it would make a good photo.

Cooling down, this recipe gives little peaks I need to practice how much a fill them.

I had them all lined up as I piped them, little yellow soldiers.

The yellow was quite bright which didn't quite show in this picture.

That's more like it.

The order requested Pebbles. It gave them a fun side.

Ready for travel.

Woollie

Check out these beautiful colours, I love this wool and it's many colours. If you live in New Zealand and Knit or crochet you can check it out Here.

I love these colours, now I just need patterns to knit.

This is only one corner of the yarn Mishi Yarns stock. I love going into the store and looking at them, I would guess I have looked at the same yarns hundred times and yet every time they can look different.

Sunshine

There was some sunshine today, it has gone now and it is getting cold. If these don't make you warm nothing will.

They are banana cake and just a plain vanilla butter cream.

The star icing I have been practicing, it was something that I learnt last decorating class and now in the new class I have started two weeks ago.
