Thank You Cards

I wanted to make some thank you cards that were different, so I came up with an idea that Carter could wear a onesie that said it all.

I used this image and we got them made into postcards.

We did think about doing cards and having this on the back.

I used word for the lettering which I traced on thick card,
and stencilled on with a permanent marker.

I took so many photos it was hard to choose.

It's a boy!

Well he arrived on his own, right on the due date.

Introducing Carter - born on 13th October 2012, I just think he is  adorable.

He is a happy, contented baby.

He weighted in at 3.9kgs and was 56cm long.

Jakob came to meet his little brother this week, how cute are they both?

1st Birthday Sewing

As soon as I saw these little dolls, I knew I had to make them for one of my little nieces.

The pattern is from Ginger Melon and this is where you can find the pattern.

I didn't add the crown on mine.

I changed the colours a few times, as the combos I wasn't happy with.

I am not the best at embroidery, I just give it a go.

I really love how they turned out and I am sure she will love them to.

I also made her a bib, I had seen these last year on this blog. If you head to tutorials and look for bapron you will find the pattern and instructions.

It was very easy and I will definitely be making some for my baba.

Baby Change Mat Cover

As mentioned a few days ago, I said I would post photos of the change mat cover I made.

I find this fabric at a craft store that was closing down, so it was half price. It is a Michael Miller fabric but I don't know which designer. I had to have it, even though it leans more towards a boy I just love the insects in a jar.

The change mat we brought and it was just a white plastic foamed no allergenic, no mould type mat. I forgot to take photo.
So what I did was measured all the pieces and angles and added a 1 cm  seam allowance.

I lined the front mat pieces with terry towelling as I thought it felt cold without it.

I found the corners hard to figure out. But it turned out well.

The back I just made an envelope style opening so I can take it off to wash.

Last Minute Baby Sewing.

100% pure merino, I just love this fabric. I also like to wear merino myself, so it is only natural that baby's wardrobe and accessories also have merino featured in it too.

Like the previous wrap I used a bias binding in silk this time. It was a little harder as the silk was slippery and the merino is so soft.

I cut this wrap a little smaller so it is 80cm x 80cm square, it is a good size.

Almost a little Christmasy, don't you think?

It was hard for me to choose colours when you don't know the sex, but I really love the bright colours of the green and red.

The only thing I didn't have were light weight beanies, so I brought the cream one and made two more out of the left over wrap fabric.

I think they turned out quite well. The red beanie is a bit too thick as it is a double knit cotton, it was my first attempt.

So I had a big sewing afternoon yesterday, which also included the cover I made for the change mat. I will post that in a few days.

It's a Wrap.

I have decided that I can make my own wraps and not pay twice the price. I am so glad for fabric outlet stores and when they have a sale I am going back for more.

This fabric is a double layer cotton and it has holes in shapes of double hearts, I got a stripe binding from spotlight and just edged it.

I love how it turned out, the red with the stripes looks very striking.

I also picked up a green 100% merino fabric, which I will be binding with a simple colour.

I am going to wait and see what sex baby is before I buy some more.
I cut the fabric to 100 cm by 80 cm as that is the size I found in most of the stores, also some merino wraps were 80 cm by 80 cm. The leftover that I trimmed I am planning on making a simple pant.

Ginger Crunch

It is no surprise to people that know me, that I love to bake. I don't eat a-lot of it and sometimes I only have a tiny crumb to see if it tastes okay to give away.

But not ginger crunch, it is one of my favourites, I have only made it about 3 times.  I was on a roll this week, I made two and one chocolate caramel slice (which I didn't take a photo of) and I also made a lemon and coconut brownie (which had no chocolate)

I love using a round tin for this recipe because the layers are pretty even and I like the shape of the topping.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, I have to start my working week. 4 weeks to go.
